About absent music
Long before ABSENT MUSIC became the name of a record label, it was the pseudonym of Jan Van den Broeke for his private minimal wave-and-other experiment-like project which he had put created in the mid-1980s, next to his involvement in the cultband THE MISZ. ABSENT MUSIC released 2 cassettes: ABSENT MUSIC FOR ABSENT PEOPLE (1986) and CHEZ RENEE (1988), the latter being the soundtrack of a video and exhibition by Renée Lodewijckx. They both belong to the best kept secrets of the Belgian minimal wave of the 1980s.
