About Abdou Day

Abdou Day is originally from Madagascar, an island in the Indian Ocean located in South-East Africa. Always interested in music, in 1985 he met Jimmy Cliff, who encouraged him to pursue a career. He emigrated to France in 1989 to try to break into the music business. He started out singing backgrounds in various bands. At a Marley Tribute Festival in the city of Colmar, France, he met Pato Banton (a reggae singer from Birmingham, England), and some members of Bob Marley's family. They all felt he had something worth continuing.
