Zhappas Kalambaev (Russian: Жаппас Каламбаев, born 1 January 1909 , died 2 December 1970) was a Kazakh kobyz player from the Suzak region of Shymkent oblast in southern Kazakhstan. From childhood he mastered the art of playing kobyz independently. He learned Yklas' küys from Yklas' pupil – the dombra player Sugira Aliuly. It was Zhappas Kalambaev who turned the works of the classic of kobyz music by Yklas from dombra versions to kyl-kobyz.
