Wolff [Wolfgang] Heintz was organist at Magdeburg in 1537, and afterwards organist at Halle. He was friend of Martin Luther, who in 1543 wrote to condole with him on the loss of his wife. He is mentioned also in Amerbach's Organ Tabulature. Wolff Heintz' compositions consist of sacred and secular part-songs, of which several have been reprinted in modern edition; also psalms and cantatas.
