About West African Swing Stars
Drummer & Guitarist Ambrose Campbell formed the West African Swing Stars when he emigrated to London from Ghana in the late 1940s. The Swing Stars included musicians from Africa, the West Indies and Europe, and as their name suggests offered a hybrid mixture of European music re-worked into African forms with jazz overtones
