Leon was launched at the NAMM show in Los Angeles on January 15, 2004, and released in Japan on March 3, 2004, at the price of 39,800 yen. He is a ‘virtual male soul vocalist modelled on a real professional singer’ that targets the English language. He, along with Lola, won a 2005 Electronic Musician Editor’s Choice Award in the category ‘Most Innovative Product’. He seems to have a tulip for a character item. Leon is one of the most popular English Vocaloids among Nico Nico user but not for his voice.
