
About Victor Wittgenstein
Victor Wittgenstein (1886-1961) was a noted American pianist of the early 20th century. He was born in Louisville Kentucky, was trained as a pianist in New York City with Edward McDowell and Rafael Joseffy, and in Europe with Varette Stepanoff. He returned to teach and concertize in the US, where one of his students was Aaron Copland for two seasons around 1917-1918, who reportedly described his teaching as "not very memorable." He also recorded several titles for Duo-Art and four early Ampico titles
