About Vicente Basset
Vicente Basset was a Spanish violinist and composer active in the mid-eighteenth century, remembered chiefly for his association with the royal court in Madrid. He worked with the Real Orquesta del Coliseo del Buen Retiro, providing music for theatrical and courtly occasions at a time when Spanish musical life was increasingly shaped by Italian influences. Basset’s career reached its height in the 1740s and early 1750s, before his death around 1753.
