About Valerie Solanas
Radical feminist. Most well-known for shooting pop artist Andy Warhol. Solanas was born in an abusive home, and she was abused by her father. At the age of 11, her parents divorced, and her mother sent Solanas to her grandfather, who was an abusive alcoholic. At the age of 15, she was homeless, and she resorted to prostitution and panhandling to support herself. In 1967, she met Andy Warhol, and she asked him if he could produce a play she wrote. Unfortunately, Warhol found the play so obscene that he was afraid it was a police trap.
