About Valaam Brethren Choir
The Valaam Brethren Choir was the artist name used on the Monastic Choir of the Valaam Monastery's break-through album The Northern Athos conducted by Hierodeacon German and released on the Russian label Orthodox Music in 1999. However, normally this choir is known as the Valaam Brotherhood Choir! To add to the confusion, there is an off-shoot choir by the same name at Valaam Monastery's metochion (embassy church) in St Petersburg, whose recordings are sometimes inserted into the monastery's own productions.
