True Hearts were a melodic rock band with distinct pop overtones. The group was formed in Houston in late 1979, and were originally known as The Flirt, with the lineup of Terry Carolan, John Rempe, Manual Martinez and Rick Holman. Within six months the band had recorded an album of material, renamed the band as True Hearts, and released an EP of four songs pulled from the album. During their two and a half years as a band, there were multiple personnel changes, and several other songs were recorded.
