
THURMITE began recording music in 1999 in State College, Pennsylvania. Early on, their sound was characterized by harsh noise, feedback, and electronic experimentation. The group's first album, Calcium Release, was released in 1999. While the album included a few "songs," it was mostly a forum for noise-based sonic journeys that challenge even the most dedicated listeners. Nestled inside some of the more abstract songs such as "From Across Field19" and "Six Pops" are a few slightly more melodic moments
