About Theo de Barros
Born in Rio de Janeiro (Mar 10, 1943) , he wrote his first song in his teens, and at age 19, singer Alaíde Costa had already recorded two of his compositions: "Natureza" and "Igrejinha". Barros recorded his debut single in 1963 (featuring "Vim de Santana" and "Fim"), and joined the Sexteto Brasileiro de Bossa playing the double-bass that same year. He moved to São Paulo, working at nightclubs, and started to enjoy some recognition when Elis Regina recorded his samba "Menino das Laranjeiras", in 1965.
