The Welcome Mat were born in Sydney in 1990. The Welcome Mat were a part of the alternative music scene of Sydney in the early 90s. From the opening whistle to "10,000 People With The Same Idea" on their debut CD-EP, 'Fairydust', the guys get you onside and take you for a toe tapping good time. They were the party band for the Converse sneaker set. They were always the comedians, from their street press ads to their onstage banter, but their music never suffered from attempts at cheap laughs.
