In the midst of a laptop-dominated music scene, The Statue of David set out to combine the best elements of electronic music with the spirit of rock and roll of the sixties and seventies to create their own unique blend of pop music. They are paternal first cousins related through their fathers, both of whom were Cuban exiles. They are native New Yorkers who write and record music on a variety of vintage synthesizers and guitars. They just finished recording their debut EP, which was released on July 30th, 2013.
