There are at least three bands called The Spartans. 1. The Spartans were a short-lived R&B / beat band from Exeter in Devon, United Kingdom. Heavily indebted to The Who, their best known recording is a cover version of said band's 'La-La-La-Lies', its title abbreviated to 'Lies'. The band recorded some more tracks for the Oak label in 1966, but none of them were actually released on 45. The band then dissolved and became The Clockwork Orange. 2.
