The Sea Monks is one of 12 aliases that Abunai! used on their 2nd album, 1999's The Mystic River Sound. On the album, an imaginary alternate-dimension north-of-Boston scene is imagined and fleshed out, with Abunai! playing the part of each of the various bands. The scene is laid out in painstaking (and slyly humorous) detail in the album's liner notes by a pseudonymous scribe, reported to be the father of Abunai! bassist Dan Parmenter. The band names used on the album are: The Sea Monks
