Composed primarily of treated guitars, bass, and synthesizers, The Post Riot Era is minimalistic instrumental ambient music. TPRE's recordings largely play out as a progressive series of volume swells and drones, blanketing a otherwise beatless and noise-laden soundscape. Started in 2009, founder and Los Angeles musician Dean Hinds (Lopside) has described the music of The Post Riot Era as "an exploration of what it means to be when you can't entirely choose who you are."
