The Phil Norman Tentet first took shape in the fall of 1995 in West Los Angeles. Their signature sound is an updated West Coast Cool Jazz; music that is by turn, dreamy & lyrical, aggressive & hard swinging, cool & delicious. It is often unique, lending a modern bite to 50's era jazz compositions, as well delivering works commissioned exclusively for the group. To date the group has released three official albums, and one live release, captured on a fall evening in 1999, at The Lighthouse, Hermosa Beach, CA.
