Noel Redding (25 December 1945 – 11 May 2003) was a British rock 'n roll guitarist, best known as the bassist (!) for The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Born in Folkestone, Kent, England, Redding was selected by Chas Chandler to join Hendrix's band in 1966. He left the Experience in 1969, moving on to form Fat Mattress with Neil Landon, Jim Leverton and Eric Dillon. Redding also had a short stint in Los Angeles-based heavy metal outfit, Road, with which band he released one self-titled album in 1972.
