US group from Winneconne, WI. The Montereys, from Winneconne, Wisconsin, in 1959 on the Cuca label from Sauk City, Wisconsin. Their second record, Gold Star 1001 Whiplash/Swamp Girl was recorded in 1962. It was produced by WAPL DJ Bob Falkner, who also owned the Gold Nugget in Appleton, where the band frequently appeared. The group broke up around 1966 and Don Pinnow worked with the Nashville Sounds for 17 years. Members: Kenny Loehrke - voc, Wes Phillips - ld gtr
