Conceived by two high school friends in hopes to meet girls and to make good hip-hop music, Bear (Kenneth Bakke) and Wags (Nathan Wagoner) created The Highgrounds. Influenced by acts like Atmosphere, Brother Ali, P.O.S., Blue Scholars and more, The Highgrounds started trying their luck in bring some attention to their side of the world, Oregon. So in the summer of 2009, when the two friend were starting their sophomore year of college, they began making beats and writing lyrics.
