Formed in Tonbridge, United Kingdom, by singer Terry Clark, The Spurleeweeves came together in 1964. They won their heat of a beat group competition run by newspaper The Kent Messenger, but failed to make an impression in the final. With the beat/R&B boom having run its course, they changed their name in 1966 to The Good Things, extended in 1967 to The Good Thing Brigade, adopting a similar sound to the likes of The Hollies and the early Who. They later changed their name again, to become Jason Crest.
