About The Exploits of Elaine
An exploratory improvising group from middle England, The Exploits of Elaine's music hits like a relic from a forgotten future: the tribal utopia of a post-capitalist Britain. Deconstructing a variety of musical forms (krautrock, gamelan, folk traditions, post-punk, no wave), these young men reshape them into ghostly shapes and ecstatic trance-outs with all the glee of school children let loose in the instrument cupboard. Their music is without leadership or prefiguration and revels in the joys of the immanent, the unexpected, the mistaken.
