The Dirty Whittler entered the Perth Heavy scene in 1997, bringing new concepts in sound and hardcore groove. Boasting fatter than fat bass lines, chunky grinding riffs, lung-busting vocals, and pounding break beats, the band has played a major role in establishing Perth's 2000s thriving hardcore and alternative metal scene. The Dirty Whittler has such feats as winning the 2000 Western Australian Music Industry Award for Best Metal Act, as well as being nominated for three other honours that year
