The Dead Unknown was a locally popular metal/hardcore band hailing form Portland, Oregon in the vein of Morning Again, Undying, Trial, and Earth Crisis. They formed 3/31/2000 and played their final show 3/31/2007. Their lyrics and ideology draw much influence from 1990's hardcore bands such as Trial, Morning Again, and Chokehold. Much of their lyrics were about being straight edge, vegan, atheist, and pro-choice. Some of the songs were also written out of a desire to see the hardcore scene remain legitimate
