The Contortionist and The Wandering Boy Poets were a five piece from Sheffield who played songs inspired by such artists as Neutral Milk Hotel, Sufjan Stevens and Guided By Voices, The National, Johnny Cash, Herman Dune, The Acorn, Bowerbirds, Pavement, Sons of Noel and Adrian, and The Decemberists. They split up in late 2009. Andy is still writing music in Japanese Sleepers and drumming in The Purgatory Players. He will continue releasing music under the name The Contortionist when he sees fit.
