(1) The Black Velvet Band are a celtic band from Christchurch, New Zealand. (2) Formed in Dublin in 1987 by Kieran Kennedy (guitar,vocals) with Hothouse Flower singer Maria Doyle, Shay Fitzgerald (bass) and Dave Horner (drums), The Black Velvet Band released two singles and an album ‘When Justice Came’ on Mother Records in 1989.
