About The Alleycats
Having started out as Al & The Alleycats in 1964, this little-known beat group of the 1960s added two members from The Little Stars in 1965 and shortened their name to The Alleycats. The group had an enthusiastic fan following in and around their hometown of Alkmaar, The Netherlands. Their manager, Ben Essing (who also handled the populair English band, The Scorpions), landed them a recording deal with CNR, which yielded their début 45, 'You Went Away' b/w 'All The Things' in 1966.
