Tex and the Horseheads were an American punk rock band formed in 1983. They emerged from the Los Angeles, CA punk scene, and are often cited as one of the first bands to play "cowpunk." The band's sound fuses blues rock, honky tonk and street-tough punk. The band included Texacala Jones, Mike Martt, and Gregory "Smog" Boaz. They released two albums, Tex and the Horseheads in 1984 and Life's So Cool in 1985. The band became inactive ca. 1986 due to Texacala's alcoholism and heroin addiction. They have since reunited on and off.
