About Tarek Ali Hassan
Born Cairo 1937 to academic parents deeply immersed in science but also committed to the arts. Started learning the violin at 4 years old. Survived an environment deeply inimical to polyphonic music and became especially committed to polyphony. Studied Medicine and practiced as doctor in private and in academia but was always attached to music as his raison d'etre. Music in all its forms, the dynamic arts, and sciences especially sciences of life are for him the salvation of humanity and self.
