Superstar Quamallah is from Brooklyn, New York. His father (R.I.P. Big John Patton) helped to pioneer the soul-jazz music genre. SQ plays the drum machine like an instrument without the sequence/metronome/record feature. This gives the music an organic, soulful touch that he used to make the album, “Godfood: The break-fast”. His lyrics are simply honest. He currently teach courses at u.c. Berkeley in the african american studies dept. on "hiphop culture and media appropriation".
