Steve Sperry hailed from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and released a rockabilly tinged tune entitled "That Ain't So" in 1960. In 1977, Sperry released "Flame", which spent 3 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, getting as high as #91. "Flame" was later covered by Bobby Vinton.
