Stephen Gordin grew up in rural South Carolina, and folk and country music of the mid- 1960's served as an early musical influence. He was also intrigued by the big band sounds and the crooners of his parents' generation.. He began writing music later in life, when he felt he had developed enough life experiences to tell his stories. However, once he did, he has been prolific, primarily writing in a folk/blues/country style. However, he has also ventured into Southern rock, beach music, and alternative rock.
