SSQ was a synth-pop outfit formed in the early 80's from already-in-existence band Q (named after the James Bond character). Q consisted of Stacey Swain and Jon St. James. After John Van Tongeren, Rich West, and Karl Moet joined, the group changed their name to SSQ to shift focus to lead singer Stacey Swain. They released one album, Playback, in 1983 on Enigma/EMI America. Singles from the album included "Big Electronic Beat" (on Enigma Records) and "Synthicide.
