
Sonia Angelica de Carvalho Rosa (born October 17, 1949 in São Paulo, Brazil), best known as Sonia Rosa, is a mysteryous soothing-voiced Brazilian bossa nova singer, songwriter and musician who debuted in 1967 in Brazil and moved to Japan around 1968/1969, focusing the rest of her career there and working with many famous Japanese musicians. Born in a wealthy family, she began to play the guitar at the age of six and refined her musicality by learning João Gilberto songs, eventually breaking out as a bossa nova singer as a teenager.
