About Solomon Ilori and his Afro-Drum Ensemble
Solomon Gbadegesin Ilori is an Nigerian drummer and percussionist who moved to New York City in the late 1950s. Before Fela Kuti was a household name there was Solomon Ilori. Art Blakey utilized the talents of Ilori. He embraced his heritage and began incorporating the afrocentric mentality into his own style of jazz.
