Michael Dryburgh started out as another singer-songwriter playing open mic slots and some booked shows. After suffering a year of writers block he bought a loop pedal to try and stimulate some creativity. It soon became clear that the sound that was evolving was different from the melancholic ballads he had written under his given name. Thus Smileymic was born, playing several instruments into the looper he plays a variety of styles ranging from acoustic to old school hip hop to drum n bass to electronica.
