About Sieng Vanthy
Sieng Vanthy was a Cambodian female singer, active before and after the Khmer Rouge days (she was one of the few of her contemporaries to survive Pol Pot's regime). The daughter of comedian So Chin and actress Em Samrith, she came from a musical family as her sisters Sieng Dy and So Savoeun were also singers whilst her children Reth Thidona and Tata are also involved in music. She was stricken with a brain disorder in 2003 before being sent to Vietnam for treatment in 2009. She died in the country's Soviet Hospital on 9th December 2009.
