About Side Street Steppers
The Side Street Steppers were formed in the summer of 2009 when Christian Stanfield and his beautiful bride, Ms. Vera Victoria, decided to take their parlor music out of the home and into Memphis coffee houses. Nathan Breckenridge came along on upright bass in the fall of that year, and his wife Emily joined us on washboard percussion and vocals in the summer of 2010. People are always asking us what kind of music we play, and I am usually at a loss to sum up the wide range of our styles and traditions in a single word or short phrase.
