Sammy Sadler was born in Tennessee and raised in Texas. He moved to Nashville shortly after high school and at age 21 he had six songs on the country music charts. One night Sammy was at the office of Cashbox Magazine editor Kevin Hughes. When they left the office a man stepped out of an alley and shot them both. This infamous incident became known as "The Murder on Music Row." Kevin was killed that night in March of 1989. Sammy went through 18 hours of surgery in order to save his life.
