About Royal Jesters
Westside San Antonio Texas based 60's latino teen vocal group that originated out of Sidney Lanier High School that was formed in 1958 by Mike Pedraza, Oscar Lawson, Henry Hernandez, and Louis Escalante— the group played school dances, talent shows, and sock hops at clubs and churches, including Blessed Sacrament, St. Francis, St. Anthony Ballroom, and the Imperial Ballroom. In 1959 popular local DJ Joe “The Godfather” Anthony of 5,000-watt KMAC sent them to EJ Henke’s Harlem Records to record one of Lawson’s originals
