Rob Hirst (born Robert George Hirst in Camden, NSW, on 3 September 1955; died 20 January 2026) was an Australian musician remembered for being a co-founder of rock band Midnight Oil on drums, percussion and backing vocals (and sometimes lead vocals), and also one of the band's chief songwriters. In the mid-1990s, while Midnight Oil were taking a break, Hirst joined up with guitarist Andrew Dickson and Hoodoo Gurus bass guitarist Rick Grossman to form a side project, Ghostwriters.
