Ramphastos (Formerly Toucans) is the identifier for 21 year old William Flourance of Columbia, South Carolina, and his recent production work. By bonding electronic drums to dusty analog samples and warping them into obscurity, Flourance creates a syrupy, hallucinogenic and fluttering style of music. Typical production techniques include shifting voices down or up whole octaves and allowing large amounts of layered atmosphere to be pulsed by deep percussion hits.
