Rafael Puyana was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1931. Taught by Wanda Landowska, the most important figure in the modern revival of the harpsichord, his rhythmic sense is immaculate and his technical playing ability He plays Antonio Soler with incredible flair, and perhaps one of the points which distinguishes his recordings from other players is the quality of the instrument he often plays on - an original J.A.Hass harpsichord from 1740. It is a wondrous beast of an instrument with three manuals (keyboards) and numerous mute stops
