About Primitive Notion
Primitive Notion draws influences mainly from bands of the early and mid 90's from bands such as The Stone Roses, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead. However, several nuances of the 80's jangly guitars from The Smiths and the latin and jazz infused rhythms of bossa-nova can also be heard in their music. The band first began with Brazil-born Mari Hutten (vocals, guitar) composing songs on her basement. After being part of several bands in and outside of Canada, she decided to form a band of her own.
