Pow Pow Family Band, the self-described “worst cult in America,” was born during Miles Robbins’ time at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Elements of the band’s musical style are derived from its namesake song, “Pow Pow” from LCD Soundsystem’s 2010 album, This is Happening. After bonding over a shared appreciation for this album, Robbins and classmate Nara Shin began to play underground shows together around Providence and gradually found collaborators.
