"Like the Jayhawks on heroin." —Wisconsin Cabin, 1991 The Popealopes, active in Davis, California in the late 1980s and early 1990s, released three studio albums—An Adder's Tale, Kerosene, and Cavalcade—on New York's Skyclad Records. Their fourth studio album, entitled Slowest Eye, was released by Italy's Helter Skelter Records, Skyclad having folded. It is difficult to easily summarize either the Popealopes' sound or their influences, but listeners have cited traces of T. Rex, Television, The Saints, Thin White Rope, and Opal.
