Piotr Elert (also Peter or Pietro Elert, born around 1575 in Frauenburg (Ermland); died around 1653 in Warsaw) was a Polish composer. Elert probably received his training in Königsberg. He lived as a violin and viola player and music teacher in Warsaw, where he also ran a printing shop. A collection of canons from his pen is preserved in the appendix to the text Judicium cribri musici by Marco Scacchi, which he printed. He was also erroneously named as the author of the "first Polish opera".
