About Pierre CHABANCEAU de la BARRE
Pierre Chabanceau de la Barre (1592-1656) was a French composer and instrumentalist. The foremost member of a French family of musicians active mainly at the French court from the late 16th century to the early 18th, he played organ and harpsichord at court and wrote instrumental and vocal music. His children included Anne (1628-1688 or earlier), a leading court singer, Joseph (1633-1678 or earlier), an organist and composer, and Pierre (2) (1634-1710 or earlier), an instrumentalist and singer and a composer of keyboard pieces and airs.
